RJD alleges men getting the benefit of scheme meant for women in Bihar

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Saturday, December 13, 2025, instead of transferring money to women under age Mukhayamantri Mahila Rozgar YojnaThe state government mistakenly transferred ₹10,000 into the accounts of several men for alleged vote-buying attempts.

Two people support the claims; RJD shared a screenshot of the letter allegedly sent by Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Association, better known as Jeevika, to the recipients asking them to refund the amount after the error was revealed.

The plan was thought to be a game changer for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which won 202 out of 243 seats in the recently concluded assembly elections.

RJD released message ‘X’ in Bihar, alleging that NDA leaders and officials were in such a mad rush to buy votes and grab power that the poor souls ended up making a huge mistake.

“Their anxiety and insecurities were so intense that instead of sending the money to the women, they transferred ₹10,000 to the men’s accounts. Now love letters are being written to the men asking them to return the ₹10,000.”

Months before the Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the scheme through video conferencing from Delhi and transferred state government funds of ₹7,500 crore directly into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women in Bihar by providing financial assistance of ₹10,000 each.

The Bihar government has so far transferred money to more than 1.56 crore women, enabling them to start their own businesses through financial assistance.

The state government has also assured that an additional grant of ₹2 lakh will be given to women entrepreneurs after evaluating the performance.

RJD also said in its post that hunger, inflation, migration and unemployment are so prevalent in Bihar that the money they received must have been spent as soon as it was transferred to their accounts.

“The poor guys will not refund this loan amount in any way anymore because return their votes first. How long will you continue to hide EVMs, cheating, vote buying, vote stealing and machine-created governments? The truth will come out one day,” RJD claimed in its post.

The alleged letter was sent by Block Project Manager (BPM) Jeevika of Jaale block in Darbhanga district to two recipients of Ahiyari and Berhampur Panchayat on December 5, 2025.

“This is to inform you that the Prime Minister’s Women Employment Scheme is intended to be provided only to women members of Jeevika Women Self-Help Groups. However, due to a technical error, an amount of ₹10,000/- (ten thousand rupees) has also been transferred to your account. Therefore, you are requested to deposit the received amount of ₹10,000/- (ten thousand rupees only). BPM said in the letter:

According to data from the Election Commission of India (ECI), women outnumber men in voting participation. In terms of percentage, the participation of women was 71.6% and that of men was 62.8%.

Repeated attempts to contact the IAS officer and Chief Executive Officer and State Mission Director, BRLPS, Jeevika Himanshu Sharma and Darbhanga District Project Manager (DPM) Richa Gargi remained fruitless.
