Sachin Tendulkar set social media on fire with his special post to X after his meeting with Lionel Messi. Messi, who visited India for three days, arrived in Mumbai on Sunday, December 14. Messi also hugged heartily with India’s football icon Chhetri, who ranks fourth in the international football goal rankings. Messi made a generous gesture and gifted Chhetri his number 10 jersey.

Earlier that evening, Messi had already wowed the enthusiastic crowd at Wankhede. He threw footballs into the stands to make sure the upper tier fans were not left out, scored an exhibition penalty and enjoyed fun moments during the rondo with young girls alongside Luis Suarez and Rodrigo De Paul. Young candidates from Maharashtra left with certificates, feeling the excitement of sharing the field with the legends. Additionally, Messi launched the ‘Maha-Deva’ Project, an initiative of the Maharashtra government that aims to research and train young footballers in FIFA-approved academies.

Messi will then travel to Delhi for the final leg of his India tour. The 38-year-old is set to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital on Monday (December 15).

He will also attend an event at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the afternoon. This event in Delhi will conclude Messi’s trip to India. Remarkably, this marks the second time Messi has visited India in 14 years; He first played at Salt Lake Stadium in 2011.
