White House chief of staff Susie Wiles was diagnosed with “early-stage breast cancer” but remained committed to her job while receiving treatment, President Donald Trump said Monday.
Trump said Wiles, 68, “decided to take on this challenge NOW rather than wait.” Real Social post reveals the diagnosis.
In his post, Trump said he had an “excellent” diagnosis and would “spend almost all of his time in the White House.”
“Her Strength and Determination to continue doing what she loves and does so well while undergoing treatment tells you everything you need to know about her,” he said.
The White House did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for additional information about Wiles.
Wiles oversaw Trump’s win in the 2024 presidential campaign and wielded great influence in his second administration.
Wiles, who is often seen alongside Trump at public events, rarely speaks on camera or gives recorded interviews. But in 2025, he participated in a series of interviews with Vanity Fair that revealed strikingly frank assessments of Trump and his top aides.
He told the press, among other things, that Trump had an “alcoholic personality” and that as president he was waging legal “revenge” against his enemies.
After the interviews were published in December, Trump said he stood by Wiles and came to Wiles’ defense while a number of senior executives attacked Vanity Fair. Wiles called the articles a “hit piece.”
