Trump promises $2,000 check for every American thanks to tariff revenue he’s collected

Donald Trump has promised to give every American a $2,000 check thanks to the tariff revenue his administration collects.
The president made the exciting announcement Sunday morning, calling those who hate his tariff strategy “idiots.”
He said dividends of at least $2,000 would be paid to everyone except ‘high-income people’, but did not specify what the threshold for this would be.
The president also praised the standing of the United States in general, calling it ‘the most respected country in the world.’ ‘There is almost no inflation and a record stock market price,’ he said.
Trump stated that the tariff revenue was “trillions of dollars” and said the money would soon be used to pay off the country’s “enormous debt” of $37 trillion.
The Truth Social post comes after the Supreme Court questioned the legality of using its emergency powers to impose tariffs on nearly every country in the world (allies and enemies alike).
The U.S. collected about $151 billion in tariff revenue between April and October, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he expects the United States to generate at least $500 billion in tariff revenue annually.

But since the legality of these tariffs is now in question, it’s unclear what will happen to the money already collected.
The US government spent $7 trillion in fiscal year 2025; This figure is $1.78 trillion more than collected during the same period. US Treasury Financial Data.
An extra $500 billion in revenue would cut that deficit by just under a third.
Before the Supreme Court heard the tariff case, several lower courts had ruled that it was illegal for the president to use emergency powers to impose tariffs.
The initial decision was issued in May by a specialized federal trade court in New York and was largely upheld by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in August before the case went to the nation’s highest court.
The key difference in the lower appellate court’s decision was that it threw out a portion of the original decision that stated the tariffs should be eliminated immediately.
At the time, Trump wrote on Truth Social: ‘ALL TARIFFS STILL VALID! Today the Supreme Court of Partisan Appeals wrongly said that our Tariffs must be repealed, but they know the United States will win in the end.
‘If these Tariffs were eliminated it would be a complete disaster for this Country. ‘This would weaken us financially and we need to be strong.’
This is breaking news.
