Trump posted a video on his Truth Social account on Saturday showing him wearing a crown and flying in a jet labeled “King Trump” and throwing a brown substance resembling feces onto a crowd of protesters. Loggins’ 1986 hit song “Danger Zone” was used in the video. Best Weapon (together Sequel to 2022 Best Weapon: Maverick).
The timing of the video coincided with the massive No Kings protests that took place across the country on Saturday, where nearly seven million people participated in a peaceful march against the Trump administration’s policies.
On Monday, Loggins demanded that Trump’s video be removed from the internet.
“This is an unauthorized use of my performance of ‘Danger Zone'” Loggins said in the official statement on his website:. “No one asked for my permission, so I would refuse, and I demand that my recording in this video be removed immediately.”
Loggins continued: “I can’t imagine why anyone would want their music to be used or associated with something created solely for the purpose of dividing us. Too many people are trying to divide us, and we need to find new ways to come together. We’re all Americans and we’re all patriots. There’s no ‘us and them’; that’s not who we are, that’s not what we’re supposed to be. We’re all in this together, and my hope is that we can embrace celebration.” Music as a way of uniting each and every one of us.”

Loggins is the latest in a long line of musicians to call out Trump for using songs without his approval. Beyoncé, Celine Dion, Foo Fighters, Sinéad O’Connor’s estate, Pharrell, Johnny Marr of the Smiths, Adele, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, Neil Young, Rihanna, Ozzy Osbourne, Nickelback, Linkin Park, Rolling Stones, Panic! At the Disco, Queen, R.E.M. and the estates and families of Tom Petty, Laura Branigan, Prince and George Harrison publicly criticized Trump for the unauthorized use of the songs.
Yet Trump continued to play many of their songs without permission at his own events and at other artists’ works.
