Trump Says Gaza Ceasefire Will Be His ‘Eighth Solved War’

Washington: US President Donald Trump reiterated on Sunday (local time) that he has been instrumental in resolving many long-standing global conflicts.

Trump also mentioned the ongoing conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan during an interaction with reporters aboard Air Force One while traveling to the Middle East, suggesting he might address the issue upon his return. He expressed confidence in his ability to “solve wars.”

“This will be my eighth war that I’ve solved, and I heard there’s a war going on right now between Pakistan and Afghanistan. I said I should wait until I get back. I’m doing another one. Because I’m good at solving wars,” Trump said.

He assessed his previous efforts to resolve long-standing disputes, including between India and Pakistan, and claimed that many wars had been resolved under his leadership.

“Think about India and Pakistan. Think about some of the wars that went on for years. One lasted 31 years, one lasted 32 years, one lasted 37 years; millions of people were being killed in each country, and I mostly got it all done in a day. Pretty good,” he said.

Trump said it was an “honor” to play a role in saving lives through peace initiatives, adding that his actions were not driven by personal recognition or rewards.

“It’s an honor for me to do this. I saved the lives of millions of people. To be fair to the Nobel Committee, it was 2024. This (Nobel Peace Prize) was selected for 2024. But there are those who say you can make an exception because so many things have happened in 2025 that are completed, completed and wonderful. But I didn’t do this for the Nobel. I did this to save lives,” he said.

His comments come at a time of renewed interest in the Nobel Peace Prize. Two days ago, on October 11, Trump reacted to not receiving the award and claimed that he had helped Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winner, many times.

Trump said Machado personally contacted him after receiving the award and dedicated it to him in recognition of his support.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said, “The Nobel Prize winner called me today and said, ‘I accept this in your honor because you really deserve it’… But I didn’t say, ‘Give it to me’. I think he might have done it… I was helping him along the way. They needed a lot of help in Venezuela during the disaster. I’m happy because I saved millions of lives.” said Trump, speaking to reporters at the White House.

Machado was awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to advance the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people and his fight for a peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.

Trump, who said he expected to receive the award for his efforts to “end seven wars,” also linked the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict to his broader record of peacemaking.

“I said, ‘What about the other seven? I should get a Nobel Prize for each of them.’ So they said, ‘But if you stop Russia and Ukraine, sir, you should be able to get the Nobel.’ I said I stopped seven wars. “This is a war, and it’s a big war,” Trump said, recalling conflicts he claimed were resolved under his leadership, including “Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kosovo and Serbia, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, Rwanda and Congo.”

Among these remarks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also expressed his support for Trump’s peace initiatives.

In his post about X, Netanyahu wrote: “Give @realDonaldTrump the Nobel Peace Prize; he deserves it!”
