White House Reaction to California Crash
According to an ANI report, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday (local time) highlighted an example of issuing commercial vehicle licenses to illegal immigrants. He accused California of issuing a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to an illegal alien who killed three people while drunk and driving under the influence in a major crash, prompting a Department of Transportation investigation.
During the White House Press briefing, Leavitt said: “I can confirm that California has issued a license to this individual, and this is something that the Department of Transportation has already reviewed. I know that Secretary Duffy, who has done an outstanding job, has spoken about this many times during the push that the Department of Transportation has taken on these licenses that were unfairly granted to individuals who clearly did not deserve to hold these positions.”
Who is Jashanpreet Singh?
The accused was reportedly identified by authorities as 21-year-old Jashanpreet Singh. It has not been confirmed whether the illegal immigrant is Indian or not.
Highlighting concerns about licenses issued to undocumented immigrants, Leavitt said Jashanpreet Singh entered the country through the southern border in 2022 and was “released” by the previous Biden administration. Leavitt said this incident showed a “disturbing pattern” of commercial licenses being issued to “illegal criminals”.
“As for this case in California, on October 22nd, ICE filed an immigration detainer for this individual after he was arrested by local authorities in California for intoxication and intoxication manslaughter. He killed three people. And he first entered the United States through the southern border in 2022. And he was released into our country by the previous administration. ICE placed a separate hold for this individual. And these tragedies disturb this criminal.” It follows a compelling trend. Illegal aliens are given commercial vehicle licenses. “The Ministry of Transport is definitely taking precautions on this issue…” he said.
Action in California Road Accident
The Department of Transportation is taking action, and Secretary Sean Duffy is criticizing states like California for not enforcing federal English language requirements for commercial truck drivers. California risks losing more than $40 million in highway safety funding due to non-compliance.
According to an ANI report, a new bill, the SAFE Drivers Act, proposes banning foreign language truck driver exams and revoking driver’s licenses issued to undocumented immigrants.
The bill also includes reporting requirements that states must make annually to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, detailing the number of potential, successful and compliant applicants.
The SAFE Drivers Act follows the Trump administration’s decision to withhold $40 million from California after 28-year-old illegal immigrant Harjinder Singh struck and killed three people after making an illegal U-turn in Florida in August.
The crash in California raised concerns about faulty licenses and public safety.
