“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg argued Wednesday that if President Donald Trump buys Greenland, no country will be safe from similar purchases by powerful leaders.
“I think he could take Greenland,” host Sara Haines said during a discussion about Trump’s effort to seize control of the Danish island territory.
“Greenland is not for sale!” fellow co-host Sunny Hosten explained.
Goldberg later warned: “Listen, if they let him do this, no country on this planet is safe.”

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Trump has said buying Greenland is a matter of national security to keep Russia and China in check as polar ice caps melt and shipping routes expand, but NATO allies have rejected the idea.
The United States is the only nation that can control and secure Greenland, Trump announced Wednesday in Davos, Switzerland.
“We never asked for anything,” Trump said about US work with NATO. “And we got nothing. Frankly, we probably won’t get anything unless I decide to use extreme force and force where we’re going to be unstoppable. But I’m not going to do that. OK, now everyone’s like, ‘Oh good.’ That was probably the biggest statement I ever made because people thought I was going to use force. I don’t need to use force. I don’t want to use force. I’m not going to use force.”

“I think our NATO alliance in general is really at risk at this point,” Hostin said in response to Trump. he said. “Our allies are speaking out now, so you’ve seen them say that we, this is a new world order. This has to be something that needs to happen, we should be very afraid, because right now with our alliance, China is on this side, Russia is on that side.”
“Where will these kinds of middle-class countries go? They will merge, and I think they could probably go to China, which means China will be a new kind of ruler of the world order, and that’s scary – I think that’s a very scary thing for us,” he added.

“The View” co-host Sara Haines suggested that President Trump’s deescalation of tensions by saying he would not use force to take Greenland could be a sign that he is using a calculated negotiation strategy. (ABC/TheView)
Haines praised NATO’s strength as an alliance of western powers, saying: “If it disintegrates or splits at the second moment, we would be instantly vulnerable to Russia and China.”
Haines offered a theory that Trump’s de-escalation of tensions by saying he would not use force to seize Greenland could be part of a calculated negotiating tactic, noting: “I definitely think Donald Trump is backing away from military issues because I think he can take Greenland.”
