Two massive great white sharks, possibly pregnant, tagged off California
Two massive great white sharks recently caught sight of Point Conception, Ca. were tagged offshore, allowing scientists and the public to track their movements.

Domeier said on Friday: instagram: “We’re crossing our fingers now and hoping we can follow them for the next 18 months and find out where they give birth.”
This assumes both sharks are pregnant or will become pregnant soon.

But according to Keith Poe, who tagged the sharks during a 24-hour familiarization session on Oct. 20, both are plump females, which is why he baited and tagged them.

“I brought about 40 sharks aboard in 24 hours and selected two that I wanted to tag: large females over 15 feet,” Poe told FTW Outdoors.
All of the sharks are either adults or subadults, Poe added. In his own words: “They were all marine mammal killers.”

Unlike juvenile white sharks, which prey on stingrays and other fish, adult white sharks feed largely on elephant seals, harbor seals, and sea lions.
Poe didn’t reveal how close to shore it was, but Point Conception is visible in the background of the image above.
The region has recently become known as a “hot spot”. white shark activity due to the abundance of prey.
Poe said the large sharks attracted to his boat were aggressive towards smaller sharks, and Dolores bit another shark in the ass.

“I tagged him the next day; he was still there,” Poe said. “Giant shark. Really big, very aggressive, and it was after every other shark there.”
At one point, Poe reached out and gently placed his gloved hand on the nose of one of the smaller sharks.
Poe has captured and released thousands of sharks and tagged dozens of white sharks and mako sharks for the Marine Conservation Science Institute (Marine CSI). Application of non-profit organization, Expeditionary White Sharkallowing the public to follow the movements of these sharks.
