Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust chief Champat Rai resigns on moral grounds amid donation row

His resignation came after the Uttar Pradesh government set up a Special Investigation Team to probe allegations of misappropriation of donations from the Ram temple in Ayodhya. According to PTI, the First Information Report (FIR) in the donation case of Ram Shankar Yadav alias Tinnu Yadav, who is said to be the former driver of the Foundation’s general secretary Champat Rai.
Others named in the FIR include Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Avinash Shukla, Manish Yadav and others.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut alleged that attempts were being made to protect Champat Rai and local BJP functionaries and they were also buying lands at cheaper rates and selling them to the trust at higher rates.
