A multi-vehicle collision on a motorway near an airport in the United Kingdom has caused serious delays. Traffic on the M11 southbound between junctions J9 and J8 near Stansted Airport has come to a halt.

As emergency services responded to the incident, National Highways urged motorists to seek alternative routes, warning of 75-minute delays and seven miles of traffic jams.

A HGV and two vans were among the vehicles involved in the serious collision near the A505 in Duxford. In a statement, Cambridgeshire Police said: “We are currently at the scene of a serious collision on the M11 near the A505 at Duxford. A HGV and two other vehicles were involved in the collision.”

Police said the “southbound road is closed and will likely remain closed for some time” and urged drivers to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while officers deal with the incident. There is a direction.
