Why Dhruv Jurel cannot bat as a replacement? ICC rules explained

Standard Spare Field Player Rule: Limited
If a player like Rishabh Pant is hurt and cannot continue (such as Wicketkeeping), the team can bring a spare field player. This rule has been for a while. In the Law of 24.1.2 of ICC rules.
What can a backup do: If the referees accept, a spare area can put it on the field and keep a small door. That’s why Dhruv Jurel holds a small door for India.
What a backup cannot do: Here’s the problem. It cannot make a spare coating or cannot be captain. And they can’t bat. The rules say that only a nominated player can bat. So, if the pants can’t bat because of his finger, India will be the player who hit a ball because Jurel can’t hit him.
Steering backup: Full backup now
The only time shock that a team can get a full backup that can be a bat, bowl and field is related to the backup rule. ICC, this rule in 2019 after head or neck injuries for player safety.

Why is it not valid now: The test of the Lord is an international match in July 2025, so this trial rule is not yet available. ICC will see how it went in domestic leagues before considering using internationally.
