‘Why didn’t you mention Dr. Ambedkar’s name’, angry forest guard asks Maharashtra cabinet Minister during Republic Day event

On Monday, January 26, 2026, the opposition alleged that Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Girish Mahajan had said that a Forest Guard had been killed by Dr. during the Republic Day celebrations in Nashik. He harshly criticized Babasaheb Ambedkar after he expressed regret over his speech in which he did not mention his name.

Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi then approached Nashik Police and requested action against the Maharashtra Minister. The Ranger later wrote a petition to the Nashik Police apologizing to Girish Mahajan. He also filed a case against the Minister under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

Later, while talking to reporters in Nashik, Girish Mahajan said, “It must have slipped my attention by mistake. It was not intentional. There was no such intention. I gave the usual slogans like Vande Mataram, Bharat Mata ki Jai, Shivaji Maharaj ki Jai. I had no intention of hurting anyone. If you look at the speeches given every year, you can check what I said. I am sorry if anyone’s sentiments were hurt.”

Forest Ranger Madhavi Jadhav, who attended the Republic Day event in Nashik, exploded in anger after Girish Mahajan’s speech, alleging that there was a deliberate attempt to delete her name. When a police officer was seen trying to calm him down, he said, “Those who have nothing to do with the Constitution of the country were mentioned today. So why was Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s name not mentioned even once? We are all here today because of him. I will not allow them to erase his name like this. I don’t care if you dismiss me. The minister must accept his mistake.” He was then taken to the police station, where he filed an application and asked for action to be taken against the Minister.

Many Congress leaders criticized the Minister. “BJP is allergic to the name Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. They repeatedly insult the creator of the Constitution, which is the basis of their government. It is true that the BJP wants to erase Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s name from this country as they hate equality, justice and fraternity. I salute the officer who does not care about his job and raises his voice against Babasaheb’s insult,” Congress leader Varsha Gaikwad said on social media. X.

Congress’ lawyer Yashomati Thakur also asked why the BJP is asking Dr. He questioned whether he was allergic to Babasaheb Ambedkar’s name. “I strongly condemn this Manuwadi action by Girish Mahajan, the inheritor of the thoughts of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh,” he said.

Shiv Sena UBT leader Ambadas Danve on Republic Day with Dr. He said it was essential to commemorate Babasaheb Ambedkar. “He is absolutely right. These people do not respect the Constitution and those who created it. They talked about changing the Constitution in the last election. They do not believe in this,” he said.
