UP man with two wives kills live-in partner, burns body in metal trunk; here’s how murder came to light

The police launched an investigation into the incident upon the complaint of the victim’s family.

News reports claimed that a retired railway worker with two wives killed his 35-year-old live-in partner, stuffed her body in a metal crate and set it on fire earlier this month. The accused, Ram Singh Parihar, reportedly threw the ashes into the river before trying to carry the chest to his second wife’s house. According to the initial police investigation, Parihar killed his partner Preeti for allegedly demanding a large amount of money from her and had already received thousands of rupees.

According to police, the murder took place on January 8. Allegedly, the defendant wrapped the body in a tarpaulin and hid it for a while. He then purchased a metal chest, collected firewood, placed the body inside the box and set it on fire. Parihar allegedly threw the ashes into the river in an attempt to destroy evidence. Parihar then tried to send the metal crate to his second wife’s house by renting a loader vehicle with the help of his son. However, the loader driver became suspicious and informed the police.

When police arrived at the scene and opened the locked box, they found burnt human bone fragments and charcoal-like material inside. They then sent the body for forensic examination. While Parihar is reported to have escaped, a large police team has been formed to catch him. Police said the accused already had two wives and was living with Preeti, whose alleged financial demands led to tension and eventually murder.
