Illegal car seats still being sold by major online marketplaces, Which? finds

“Online markets are likely to be influenced by less wealthy households, until they have to take responsibility for the list of these cheap but deadly car seats.
“The product regulation and metrology law is a pleasant start to strengthen product safety laws, but for short -term applications, secondary arrangements are needed to apply legal responsibilities open to online markets.”
The consumer champion says that parents who need to take a baby or a child car seat should always comply with these instructions:
- Check that the car seat is a label with Ece R44-03, Ece R44-04 or Ece R129, which is legal to be sold in the UK market.
- Buy car seats that can give advice from a retailer and help to follow the car seat.
- Never take a second -hand car seat, because it is impossible to say if you are just looking at it. Structural security may endanger and may be non -external internal damage.

A EBAY spokesman said: “Consumer security is the most important priority for ebay. Shein spokesman said: “Shein takes product safety very seriously and is determined to offer safe and reliable products to its customers. In this case, the product was incorrectly tagged by the third -party seller.
“After notifying, Shein immediately removed it from the site. Shein sellers must comply with Shein’s rules of behavior and strict safety standards and at the same time comply with the relevant laws and regulations of the markets we operate.
“Shein took action against the seller of the product according to the penalties mentioned in our guidelines.”
Small dreams did not comment, but they said they would review the product, that they would remove the list from the websites and that they would make a comprehensive internal investigation.
Wish and Manomano did not respond to comments.
