Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is expected to announce a radical overhaul of the UK’s asylum and immigration system, modeled in part on what Denmark has done over the last decade.

Denmark’s center-left government has been trying something new since 2019: the usual social democratic manifesto, alongside a series of tough policies on immigration and asylum; even razing properties thought to contain large numbers of residents of “non-western” origins.
