Will answer them in High Court: Humanyun Kabir cries conspiracy after ‘sting video’ posted by TMC goes viral

Uttar Dinajpur (West Bengal) [India]April 10 (ANI): Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) chief Humayun Kabir on Friday alleged conspiracy after poll-related chaos broke out in West Bengal due to an alleged “stinging video” released by the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee shares “good relations” with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and claimed there was a conspiracy behind making her December 19 video viral at a time when assembly elections are near, she told reporters in Islampur.

“A video of December 19 is being made viral on April 8. What was CM Mamata Banerjee doing all these days? It is a conspiracy. I will answer them in the Supreme Court. Mamata Banerjee shares good relations with the BJP and RSS. Together they are doing this against me,” Kabir said.

When asked to speak about Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-i-Muslimeen (AIMIM) withdrawing its alliance with his party, the AJUP chief said, “Ask them about it. I will not comment on it.”

Kabir has been surrounded by controversy ever since he announced the establishment of Babri Masjid. He also organized a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Masjid in Murshidabad. He was suspended and expelled by the TMC for raising this issue, after which he formed a regional party.

Earlier in the day, Owaisi’s AIMIM announced its decision to withdraw its alliance with the Kabir-led party.
The announcement comes after a “stinging video” released by TMC on X in which the AJUP chief allegedly said he had struck a deal worth “Rs 1,000 crore”. The AIMIM said it had raised concerns over the “integrity of Muslims”. However, it is worth noting that Kabir denied the allegations, claiming that the video was created by artificial intelligence.

The AIMIM declared that it “cannot be associated with any statement in which the integrity of Muslims is questioned” and confirmed that it was officially ending the alliance with immediate effect.

AIMIM also used the occasion to highlight what it described as the ongoing socio-economic marginalization of Muslims in West Bengal. The community remains “one of the poorest, neglected and oppressed” despite decades of rule by parties claiming a secular political framework, including the All India Trinamool Congress and previous administrations, the party said.

Meanwhile, TMC MLA Arindam Guin on Friday called Humayun Kabir a “traitor”. He accused Kabir of colluding with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and splitting Muslim votes ahead of the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections.

Voting for the 294-member assembly in West Bengal will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, while the counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
