Willem Duursma selected first overall by West Coast, joins siblings Xavier, Zane and Yasmin; follow results, draft order and analysis
Willem Duursma’s father Dean spoke Age He said it was incredible to see his children on the AFL and AFLW lists.
Duursma will become the fourth member of her family to be listed on the AFL/W list, following siblings Xavier, Yasmin and Zane.

“We feel incredibly lucky to have this,” Dean said.
“We love football and I think in some ways we’ve passed on that love, the passion for competition and things like that. We’re very lucky that they’ve all embraced it and loved it as much as we do.”
Dean said Willem is looking forward to joining the West Coast and has already recognized a few familiar faces.
“He’s really excited about the opportunity to go to the West Coast because he already has friends there from Gippy Power and he gets along really well with Harley.” [Reid]. In fact, Harley has already said that she will come and live with him.”

Reid was previously dated Willem’s sister Yasmin, who now plays for Carlton’s AFLW team.
Dean said the family would “share the games” and added “probably every other week one of us will go up to Perth to watch it.”
“HE [Willem] “He jokes that he can’t wait to get away from us,” she said. “But everyone misses home – there will come a time… that’s where we’ll go. We go to almost every match [all the siblings] play.
“If the AFL was good they would plan games with our children in mind,” he laughed.
“I think Susie could chat with Andrew Dillon to get the program back on track.”
