William is now King! It’s an extraordinary power grab that will leave Harry and Meghan quaking… but Diana predicted it all along: MAUREEN CALLAHAN

William’s coronation will be a mere formality. This is his monarchy now.

With his reputation long protected by the late Queen and his financially dire situation, Prince Andrew was eventually driven out by his own nephew; His equally nasty ex-wife Sarah Ferguson is said to be done with having been stripped of her title.

A ‘crying’ and ‘melting’ Fergie – as exclusively reported by the Daily Mail – is begging Andrew to do something.

Unfortunately he can’t.

Neither can his brother King Charles, who apparently doesn’t like conflict but still seems to allow Prince William to do what he can’t or won’t do.

Last week’s event at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, where Andrew and Fergie had lived rent-free for the past 17 years until the latest eviction orders, was described by Andrew’s camp as a family ‘summit’ attended by only one of the couple’s two daughters.

Princess Eugenie, who remains a good friend of Harry and Meghan, was not around.

The timing is hardly coincidental: Weeks after Andrew forced William into a clearly unwelcome conversation at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral (as if to tell the world she was on good terms with the future king), and days before the posthumous publication of Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre’s memoir, William took swift and decisive action.

‘The Royal Lodge ‘summit’ was not a happy occasion and the family, once a powerful unit, has been torn apart,’ a royal insider told the Daily Mail.

On Tuesday, we learned that William had made threats against his recalcitrant uncle, who refused to vacate the Royal Lodge and delusively believed that he was in a negotiation rather than taking orders.

William is said to have threatened his own cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, Andrew and Fergie’s daughters, with having their titles stripped if Andrew did not comply.

This comes from none other than the BBC’s Emily Maitlis, who conducted the forensic TV interview that led to Andrew’s downfall.

‘There was a question about whether it existed’ […] “You must remove your father from the Royal Lodge, otherwise we will begin to re-examine the status of your own titles,” Maitlis said at a meeting between Prince William and princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Pay attention to the detail: William called his cousins. He spoke to them face to face. He did not leave the job to a staff member or send his message by letter.

He made it personal and showed that he had the courage to do what was necessary.

Now This He is the king of the future.

A fully-directed William has emerged onto the world stage, already leading the Royal Family and determined to protect the kingdom.

It looks like Charles has given up the crown. It prefers not to get involved in these complications, as per its constitution, even if they pose existential threats to the future of the monarchy.

It is clear that William had no such meticulousness.

Are Harry and Meghan paying attention?

William started making strong moves again after Meghan posted a video on Instagram of him, his feet resting, driving in his chauffeured limousine near the tunnel where Princess Diana died just two weeks ago.

Diana was also William’s mother; It’s something Harry and Meghan blithely ignore in their disastrous attempts to erase her memory.

Perhaps this is the reason for Harry’s anger and sad beta-male energy. In Montecito and New York he sulks, his posture bent, his bald spot widening; his dead-eyed wife is the embodiment of defeat as she flaunts her title of “Duchess” at every opportunity while shilling wine and jam.

Remember, it was Fergie who embellished the notion of royal dignity.

He sat down with Oprah to tell all, telling the world he was ‘down in the dumps’, drinking too much, taking dirty money – then signed on to do a reality show with Oprah called ‘Finding Sarah’.

It seems there is no higher ground for Sarah to find.

The woman whose toes were photographed being sucked by a man who was not her husband in 1992 did not experience a momentary loss of judgement, but to be a walking error in judgment.

The then-duchess (oh, the honor of that name!) signed an unkind deal as a spokesperson for Weight Watchers, sold Andrew’s access to shady businessmen, hooked up with Epstein and happily introduced her daughters to him while getting paid, and continued selling kitchen gadgets and hair products on QVC.

Do we really need to wonder what William will do to the Sussexes now? How will he deliver justice to the late Queen and Prince Philip for the atrocities they committed against Charles and Kate?

Just look at him. William walks tall, shoulders back, wearing a dark blue suit cut to flatter his trim physique, his new beard a nod to the brutal medieval kings of his ancestors.

He suffers no fools, and the weary folk are grateful for that.

It was Diana who predicted that William had the makings of a great king.

She sparked outrage in a BBC Panorama interview in 1995 when she said Charles wasn’t capable of what he called ‘the top job’, but William was.

“I don’t think Charles can do this,” Diana said.

At the time, Diana was seen as a despised woman seeking revenge. But time may have proven him right.

Charles hides while Andrew is forced out. Charles also held this summit with Harry in September – apparently against William’s stated wishes – only for Harry to do what he does best: ruin everything by complaining publicly in a matter of days.

By cutting Andrew and Fergie, William cut Harry and Meghan to the core.

It doesn’t matter whether they know or not. We do.

Now we have the House of Wales, and it’s not too soon.
