William’s secret gesture to Kate captured on camera before Royal Variety Performance leaves fans swooning

The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a special romantic moment before their glamorous appearance at London’s Royal Albert Hall last night.

Just before stepping into the spotlight at the 98th Royal Variety Performance, William, 43, appeared to kiss his wife’s hand in the air while they were in their chauffeured car.

The sweet gesture, captured in a video from Wednesday’s lavish event, left fans swooning.

As they walked the red carpet, William reached out and put his hand on the small of Kate’s back and they entered the venue together.

The performance marked the sixth time William and Kate have appeared on the show together, and the princess’s first since her recovery from cancer.

The Princess, who continues her slow and measured return to public life while recovering from cancer, was the picture of elegance in her green velvet evening gown, while William looked dapper in his black tie.

In another touching moment from the evening, Kate shared an emotional embrace with singer Jessie J, as they bonded over their brave battles with cancer and how it ‘puts life into perspective’.

The couple attended the glamorous Royal Variety Performance and looked very affectionate towards each other, earning praise from fans.

After walking along the red carpet, William reached out and put his hand on the small of Kate’s back as they entered the venue together.

Fans gushed over the couple on social media, with one writing: ‘Oh my god, how can you not love this couple? These little gestures say more than PDA [public displays of affection].’

Another added: ‘They are so in love. William has always been affectionate towards Catherine, but now he shows it openly.’

Others praised William’s ‘princely behaviour’ and described him as the ultimate ‘gentleman’.

William and Kate’s trip marked a rare joint ‘black tie’ evening for them and came after the Prince attended the Diplomatic Corps reception at Windsor Castle alone on Tuesday night.

But last night the Princess was there with her husband and wore a new emerald green velvet dress thought to be from German luxury fashion brand Talbot Runhof.

She increased the magnificence with her jewels and was once Queen Elizabeth II. She wore elegant Greville chandelier earrings made by Cartier, Elizabeth’s favorite.

The Princess chose to wear the Queen Mary Choker Bracelet on her right wrist, a jewelery used only on the most glittering royal engagements.

This diamond-studded piece was first designed for Mary of Teck, wife of King George V, in the 1920s and can be worn as both a necklace and bracelet.

The Princess of Wales announced in January that she was in remission from an undisclosed form of cancer, while Jessie J had a mastectomy in June

Prince William and Princess Kate were especially taken with Paddington at the Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall tonight.

William and Kate’s trip marked a rare joint ‘black tie’ evening for them and came after the Prince attended the Diplomatic Corps reception at Windsor Castle alone on Tuesday night.

During Kate and William’s time at the Royal Variety Performance, the royal couple met up with some of the performers backstage, including Jessie J and Paddington Bear, star of the West End’s big new show, Paddington The Musical.

After Mary’s death in 1953, it disappeared from the royal vaults until almost 20 years later, when the Queen Mother wore it for portraits taken to celebrate her 75th birthday.

Following the death of the Queen Mother in 2002, the bracelet was given to Queen Elizabeth II. It was inherited by Elizabeth but remained unused until 2015, when it was loaned to Kate, then Duchess of Cambridge, to wear it to the Chinese State Banquet.

The Princess has worn it several times since, including to the 2017 Gala Dinner during her and William’s visit to Paris, and to the Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace in 2018.

During Kate and William’s time at the Royal Variety Performance, the royal couple met up with some of the performers backstage, including Jessie J and Paddington Bear, star of new West End show Paddington The Musical.

William shook hands with Paddington, played by Arti Shah with facial and voice controls by James Hameed, and commented on how ‘delicious’ the bear’s signature marmalade sandwich looked.

Kate also stated before the event that the couple’s three children would be sad not to be able to see their beloved Paddington.

Chatting to nine-year-old twins Emelie and Olivia Edwards ahead of the annual charity event, Kate said: ‘My children will be so upset [to have missed the show]We’ll have to keep this a big secret.

“They were very sad that they couldn’t join us,” he added, putting his finger to his lips.

Meanwhile, her estranged sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, released the trailer for her Netflix Christmas special just before the couple arrived at the event.

In one part of the trailer, the mother-of-two is seen placing a kiss on Prince Harry’s lips before laying out a plate of Christmas-themed cookies alongside milk in a personalized Santa mug with Archie and Lilibet’s names on it.

Elsewhere, she’s seen grinning as she draws snowflake desserts and prepares advent calendars for them with notes and special gifts.

Hours later, the cover of the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar dropped, featuring a makeup-free Meghan.

The accompanying film is titled ‘Meghan’s Moment’ and carries the tagline: ‘After years of being subsumed by other people’s narratives, the Duchess of Sussex is ready to write her own new chapter.’

Its author describes how Meghan put her hand over her heart when talking about her husband Prince Harry.

“There is no one in the world who loves me more than him, so I know he will always have my back,” the Duchess said.
