Winston Churchill’s grandson has broken his silence over plans to change his portrait on the £5 note.

The former wartime Prime Minister will be replaced with an animal, the Bank of England said on Wednesday (March 11), after more than 50 years of showcasing history’s leading Britons.

The central bank’s move came after a consultation in which the wildlife theme received the highest vote at 60 percent.

To talk BBC News Night On Thursday (March 12), Emma Soames said she was happy with the concept, rejecting Reform England leader Nigel Farage’s description of the change as a “joke”.
