Lightly raced Bails has others stumped as she eyes third consecutive win at Monday’s Murwillumbah meeting

A home-run filly will continue to climb the rankings as she makes her longest trip at Monday’s Murwillumbah meeting.

Lightly raced Bails is part of another strong team from the leading Matthew Dunn stable and is looking for a third successive win in his fourth start.

Bails, a lightly raced daughter of senior Pierro, moved up to the 66 handicap mark over 2020 meters after two all-around victories.

He raced over 1800m at the Gold Coast in just his second start last month and made a late career move to make his debut after falling from $3.10 to $2.80. He then returned home 17 days ago and was pushed from behind as he made a late charge to overtake a useful grade 1 field.

This form bodes well for a crack at higher levels and potentially a start over the line in the midweek metropolitan company, or even a refreshed start for the Saturday Speedway tilt in NSW.

Bails, who bounced back from a low draw in a competitive race, has around $3.70 in early bets ahead of Gold Coast duo Aldeenaary ($5) and Tropic Sands ($6), while stablemate Tietar is also at around $6.50.

And it will get better the longer the journeys go. Bails is out of an unraced Irish mare and top-class sire Cacique, a double northern hemisphere group 1 winner up to 2200m.

As with many similar border battles in the past, the Dunn stable will be a major obstacle for southeast Queensland runners heading south.
