WNBA love feud explodes as NaLyssa Smith fires back at DiJonai Carrington’s cheating claims

Las Vegas Aces forward NaLyssa Smith responded by livestreaming on Twitch after her ex-girlfriend DiJonai Carrington accused her of a multiplayer cheating scandal.

During the livestream, Smith refused to confirm or deny the allegations, instead questioning why the Chicago Sky guard chose to air their private history a year after their split.

Carrington started the feud against Threads, claiming Smith cheated on her with Aces teammate Deja Kelly, Atlanta Dream guard Aaliyah Nye and others.

“He cheated on me, I cheated on him, why are we putting this on the internet a year later when no one has done anything to anyone? He cheated on me or I cheated on him, it has nothing to do with anyone,” Smith said. “Like what? This doesn’t make any sense. And moving it online a year later is crazy. Just for fun? That’s ridiculous, especially when you’re in a happy, healthy relationship.”

Smith also criticized Carrington for dragging Kelly and Nye into public disagreement.

“And then bringing up the names of people who have nothing to do with anything. These people are minding their own business. These people randomly woke up on a Sunday night with these types of allegations,” Smith said. “I think this is very strange.”

Detailing a face-to-face confrontation that preceded Carrington’s outburst on social media, Smith claimed Carrington started an argument that resulted in security becoming involved.

“There’s DiJonai. ‘You’re talking to that bitch. You’re talking to that bitch.’ Damn this. Damn it. ‘Why do I have to be a bitch?’ I think. I was literally at my grandmother’s grave saying, ‘Damn why do I have to be a bitch?’ “That’s how it all started,” Smith said. “Literally ‘Who is that bitch?’ I’m like. Then it causes turmoil and I’m like, ‘Damn what happens now?’ I say. I look like I’m in trouble. Then security comes and says, ‘Okay, you’ll all have to leave.’ Be careful, I am the victim.”

Smith also denied online allegations that he showed up uninvited to follow Carrington.

“I didn’t do ‘none’. I sit on the couch and mind my business. I didn’t do anything to anybody,” Smith said. “So they’re trying to create a story where people say, ‘Lyss showed up uninvited and she came here just to spy on people.’ You’ve got to stop all these lies.”

Smith suggested that alcohol contributed to Carrington’s outburst.

“I think the booze, the cameras, the crowd, I think someone gave him a pep talk to get him some confidence,” Smith said. “But at the end of the day, it was complete nonsense. We arrived on the scene. People were chilling. Nobody did anything to anyone.”

The former Baylor teammates will meet on the court Aug. 1 when Carrington’s Sky host Smith and the Aces in Chicago.
