DOJ claims it ended Biden administration weaponization under Trump

The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday unveiled a list of accomplishments in President Donald Trump’s first year back in office, touting an end to political weaponization that the agency says exists under the Biden administration.
The Justice Department claimed in a statement published on X that it had “turned around” the agency, restoring justice and law enforcement priorities.
“Instead of keeping Americans safe, the Biden Justice Department has weaponized its power against political opponents: conservatives, parents, pro-lifers, Christians, and most of all, President Trump,” the Justice Department said.
The Justice Department said it charged the department with restoring “integrity, accountability, and equal justice under the law” after President Trump took over a justice system he described as “in chaos.”

“In 2025, DOJ returns to its core mission: upholding the rule of law, vigorously prosecuting criminals, and keeping the American people safe,” the department said.
The announcement comes as the Trump administration continues to face legal challenges and the Justice Department faces potential legal action after missing a regulatory deadline Deadline for release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein under the Epstein File Transparency Act.
The Justice Department has announced 10 “takes” since President Trump took office on January 20, including efforts to pursue major fraud cases in Minnesota, which he described as particularly “riddled with fraud.”

According to the Department of Justice, 98 people have been charged in the Medicaid fraud and related case programs, including 85 people identified as being of Somali descent, and 64 people have been convicted to date.
The statement outlines steps taken to roll back policies targeting conservatives and parents, reduce crime nationwide, increase law enforcement activity in major cities, seize record amounts of illegal drugs, and obtain favorable rulings in the Supreme Court.
On Wednesday, FBI Director Kash Patel wrote to X that the bureau is working to restore trust in federal law enforcement.

“Eliminating public corruption is the top priority of our leadership team here; we have worked day and night on this mission and will continue to do so until justice is served,” he wrote.
The Justice Department said further enforcement actions are planned in 2026; This signals an increase in arrests, court victories, and actions “against those who threaten the security and welfare of the American people.”
