Woman, 49, dies in hospital a month after nine-year-old girl found dead at house in Oxfordshire village

A month after a nine-year-old girl died at a home in Islip, a 49-year-old woman died in the hospital.

The woman had been kept in police custody after she was found seriously injured at a property in an Oxfordshire village on the edge of the Cotswolds on October 21.

He was found next to a young girl who was pronounced dead at the scene. Two children, a girl and a boy, were discharged after being treated at the hospital.

Thames Valley Police said the woman died from her injuries on Thursday.

Relatives have been notified and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

A force spokesman said: ‘Our investigation into the death of the nine-year-old girl on Tuesday 21 October is ongoing and we continue to support her family at this extremely difficult time.

‘We are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.’

Last month, investigators said they were unable to determine the cause of death of the nine-year-old boy following an autopsy.

Residents of Islip were shaken by the tragedy. A local woman said the teenager lived with his mother and brother.

He said: ‘It’s so sad; I can’t even imagine what happened. Something that will never happen in this village. ‘So shocking, sad and completely out of the blue.’

Detective Inspector Amy Fox, senior investigating officer from Thames Valley Police, previously said: ‘We share our deepest condolences with the boy’s family, friends and everyone who knew and loved him.

‘This is an unimaginable tragedy and we are doing everything we can to support those affected.

‘This remains a highly sensitive and complex investigation.

‘I would like to sincerely thank the community for their understanding and patience as we work to uncover the full circumstances.’
