Woman and child drown in Dandenong Creek
A woman and child drowned after falling into a creek in Dandenong.
Emergency services were called to a section of the creek near Allan Street at 3.45pm on Monday after a witness reported seeing two men being dragged through the water.

“It is believed that the woman went to the child’s aid and was also caught in a difficult situation,” a police spokesman said.
“Police searched the area and located the unconscious couple, pulled them from the water and began CPR.”
The couple, whose identity has not yet been determined, could not be saved and died at the scene.
More than a dozen SES personnel are at the scene, which stretches hundreds of meters from the Allan Street bridge to the end of Steven Street.

Two tents were set up on the bank of the stream.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner but are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
