Woman charged with murder after Christmas Day death of pensioner

A woman has been charged with murder after the death of a pensioner on Christmas Day.

Stefania Glowka, 63, is accused of murdering Tamara Glowka, who was in her 80s.

The Polish national was detained at Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday after he failed to attend.

Glowka’s next hearing is scheduled for March 20, 2026, and the tentative hearing date has been set for June 1, 2026. He did not make a defence.

Police were called to a flat in Keepers Road, Devizes, Wiltshire, on Christmas morning to reports of an assault. Ms. Glowka was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Ms. Glowka, an acquaintance of the defendant, was identified from publicly available court documents.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “The victim has not yet been formally identified.

“A preliminary autopsy has been performed, but more information is needed to determine the cause of death.”
