Woman killed in fatal hit-and-run crash at Maryland birthday party

A woman was killed and several people were injured when a driver crashed into a child’s birthday party in Maryland on Saturday night.
The incident occurred in Bladensburg in Prince George’s County, about six miles from Washington, DC, FOX 5 DC reported.
According to authorities, partygoers gathered in a tent in the garden around 10pm on Saturday evening when a suspect entered the group.
The incident is being investigated as a fatal hit-and-run, authorities said Sunday. The driver, whose name was stated to be 66 years old, later surrendered.

Authorities identified the deceased victim as 31-year-old Washington DC resident Ashley Hernandez Gutierrez.
A total of 13 more people were injured, including eight children and five adults.
“Six of the child victims were treated and released, and one was hospitalized and is in stable condition,” the Bladensburg Police Department said in a statement. he said.
