Woman recalls ‘extreme peace’ after cardiac arrest

A British woman claimed she experienced a “feeling of extreme peace” after her heart stopped for 24 minutes.

Lauren Canaday was clinically dead for nearly half an hour after suffering a heart attack in February; But since he had come so close to losing his life, he insisted that he no longer had any fear of death.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Lauren explained: “I just remember a feeling of extreme peace. It stayed with me for weeks after I woke up.”

Lauren admitted that death no longer held any fear for her as she had survived the heart attack.

He also admitted that he did not hear or see anything distinct during the time he was unconscious.

He said: “I am absolutely not afraid of death anymore.

“Even though I don’t see anything specific, I’m not worried about it at all.”

Lauren actually sees this experience as a turning point in her life, explaining that her life before her heart attack was quite different from what it is now.

Seeing no light or tunnel as others have previously claimed, Lauren believes the heart attack was the end of her first life and the beginning of her second.

He reflected: “I feel like my first life ended in February. And I woke up to my second life.”

Lauren admitted that she now feels like a completely new person, having been clinically dead for so long. However, he still has a constant reminder of his near-death experience after a defibrillator was implanted in his chest.

Lauren, who survived after receiving CPR from her husband and paramedics, said: “When people tell me I look fine it’s scary because I don’t feel like the same person.”
