Channel 9 newsreader Peter Overton injured in ‘nasty fall’ at home

Journalist and TV star Peter Overton will step away from the news desk after undergoing surgery following a “bad fall” at his home in Sydney.
His wife and media star Jessica Rowe shared a photo of the journalist in his hospital bed with his thumb up and his other arm in a cast.
“There’s never a dull moment in our house!” he wrote in a social media post.
“Petee recently had a bad fall at home and severely injured his ankle.” The popular news reader underwent a “four-hour surgery” for her wrist injury, which included a bone graft, three metal plates and “various screws.”

“I give a special shout-out to our healthcare system, to our emergency nurses, physiotherapists, doctors and specialist surgeons who are the most remarkable, caring and compassionate people,” he said.
“We are very lucky.”
Mr. Overton’s injury occurred following surgery to remove a polyp from his vocal cords.
“As you know, Pete isn’t on Instagram – and he wanted me to share some news with you. He’s currently off work for a bit longer after an ENT surgeon discovered a polyp on one of his vocal cords, which explains his very raspy voice during the holidays,” he said.
