Women urged to ‘remain vigilant’ to safeguard progress

15 August 2025 12:18 | News

Some young men believe that women receive all opportunities in a way that affects male rights, and women’s minister Katy Gallagher calls it a “worrying tendency ..

However, while diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) policies return abroad, Australian workers do not experience the same return by the US Trump administration.

Senator Gallagher told the Media National Conference on Friday, and said, “In Australia, our morality is really strong in a fair and equal treatment for people – between work, community and government,” he said.

“A worrying trend emerges… Especially young men think that women are too much and that their rights go backwards and focus on women too much.”

Senator Gallagher wants to place reforms in favor of women and diversity, so that they cannot reversely by a change in the government.

The Australian Labor Party has a meeting of 56 percent women in the history of federal parliament and the first gender equality cabin.

However, Senator Gallagher remembered the “severe resistance of the men within the party when positive action was introduced decades.

In 1994, the party agreed to bring quota to women and the aim of women represent 35 percent of pre -elected workers’ candidates for federal seats that can be won until 2002.

Senator Gallagher, “Our head begins to look like the people of Australia – our community we were there to represent – but it was not easy and we should stay awake,” he said.

“You can get earnings, but you can’t get your eyes wholesale, because these gains can be taken as quickly as you reach them.”

In May, opposition leader Sussan Ley became the first female Federal Liberal leader, but the total number of women in the party did not significantly increased in ten years.

Only 33 percent of the MPs in the Federal Coalition are women.

Hilma’s network founder Charlotte Mortlock said that he was trying to “quietly” about the quotas for the liberal party during the previous government period, but no one listened.

“When you are accustomed to privilege, equality may feel like pressure,” he said.

“Nobody wants quota, no one does not want it, and we all wish it to be organic, but when not, at what point, ‘OK, it doesn’t work anymore’?”

Ms. Mortlock said it is important to demonize men in pursuit of more opportunities and representation for women.

Uz We must be responsible for the language we use because young men affect women when they leave the rails, ”he said.

“Having really healthy, developing, multi -faceted men (women) interest.”
