Nuclear-powered AI could make Rolls Royce UK’s biggest firm, says boss

BBCRolls-Royce’s plan to strengthen artificial intelligence (AI) with nuclear reactors can make it the most valuable company in England.
The engineering company signed agreements to provide small modular reactors (SMRS) to the UK and Czech governments to provide power to AI -guided data centers.
Artificial Intelligence has gained popularity since 2022, but technology uses a lot of energy that increases practical and environmental concerns.
Rolls-Royce General Manager Tufan Erginbilgic told BBC that he has the potential to become the highest valuable company in the UK by passing the largest companies on the London Stock Exchange thanks to SMR agreements.
“There is no private company in the world with the nuclear capacity we have. If we are not globally the market leader, we did something wrong,” he said.
Mr. Erginbilgic has supervised a ten-fold increase in Rolls-Royce’s stock since he took over in January 2023.
However, as the British Chip Designer Arm did, Rolls-Royce, who tried to list his shares in New York, and Shell and Astrazeneca’s appreciation in search of higher values.
Although this is US -based, 50% of shareholders and customers are based.
“This is not in our plan,” the Turkish Energy Industry veteran said. “I just don’t agree with the idea that you can realize in the USA. This is not true and I hope we showed it.”

Rolls-Royce is already supplying reactors that give dozens of nuclear submarines. Mr. Erginbilgic said that it has a great advantage in bringing this technology in the form of SMRs in the future market of the company.
SMRs are not only smaller, but also faster than traditional nuclear power plants, and as units emerge, costs fall.
He estimates that the world will need 400 Smr by 2050. Another trillion dollar plus market, each for $ 3 billion ($ 2.2 billion), that he wants and expects Rolls-Royce to be dominant.
The company signed an agreement to develop six SMR for the Czech Republic and develops three for England.
However, it continues to be an unproven technology. Mr. Erginbilgic said he could not point to a SMR example that is currently working, but he was sure of his future potential.
There are also concerns about water resources demands from the data center and SMR cooling systems.
In contrast, companies such as Google, Microsoft and Meta signed agreements to get energy from the US SMRs when they were present.
New generation airplane
Rolls-Royce sees SMRs as the key to the future, but the biggest job is the aircraft engines.
The Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 plans to enter a new generation narrow -bodied planes such as Boeing 737 and Airbus A320, which is already dominant in supplying engine to large -bodied aircraft. This market is nine times the wide body – $ 1.6tn.
Rolls-Royce Lice player in a market with strong and successful leaders, and this rival Pratt and Witney lost $ 8 billion and could not enter.
The market is managed by CFM International, a common initiative between US -based Ge Aerospace and French company Safran Aviation engines.
Industrial Veterans told BBC that market leaders could reduce and quit prices to airline customers for a long time to see a new attack on market domination.
However, Mr. Erginbilgic said that it was not only the biggest business opportunity for Rolls-Royce. On the contrary, “for industrial strategy … The greatest opportunity for economic growth for England”.
“Another England opportunity, I don’t challenge, it won’t fit it,” he said.
Share the price increased by ten times
Although Rolls-Royce sold his business to BMW about 30 years ago, the company’s name is still synonymous with British engineering excellence.
However, at the beginning of this decade, this brightness was worn out. The company was intensively owed, there were no profit margins, and thousands of personnel were dismissed.
When Mr. Erginbilgic took over in January 2023, he likened the company to the “combustion platform”.
“Our capital cost was 12%, our return was 4%, so we destroyed the value every time we invest,” he said.
Two and a half years later, the company is waiting to make a profit over £ 3 billion, debt levels have fallen and stocks increased by more than 1000% – ten -fold increase.
So how did this happen? And is Mr. Ergin Bilgic Rolls-Royce’s right to think that the roll has just begun?
‘Respect for Kinki’
According to some industrial veterans, the timing of the appointment was lucky.
Rolls-Royce’s biggest job-to supply engine to commercial airlines has risen strongly from Covid Pandemia.
The company’s most successful product – Trent Aircraft Engine series – is the sweet point of profitability as the investment returns made to their development ten years ago began to fall into the company chests.
In 2022, Russia’s full-scale Ukrainian invasion made it almost inevitable for defense to see higher expenditures than European governments-this was approved by recent announcements.
Trade unions have not always been fans of Mr. Erginbilgic’s difficult charging approach.
In October 2023, one of his first major moves was to cut out the criticism of the Union’s boss Sharon Graham.
“This announcement seems to be about implementing markets and shareholders when ignoring their workers.” He said.
However, the general global staff has risen from 43,000 to 45,000 since 2023, and union sources say that there is “respect for condemnation” for Mr. Erginbilgik.
These sources give him one third of the loan for the return of the company’s reserves, one -third of the market conditions and the third to the predecessor Warren East for “stability”.
Mr. Erginbilgic really believes that Rolls-Royce can be the most valuable company in England, does he exceed the likes of Mu-Astrazeneca, HSBC and Shell?
“Currently we are in the fifth place in FTSE. Currently, I believe the growth potential we have created in the company, our current business and in our new jobs, in fact, yes – we have this potential.”
Rolls-Royce undoubtedly believes that a company on the back of the wind-and Tufan Ergenbilgic certainly sets the sails correctly.
