The terrifying moment GB News presenter Ben Leo confronted angry pro-immigrant activists outside an ICE detention center in New Jersey, US, horrified viewers and social media users around the world.
The shocking clip, which has gone viral since it was aired by the channel on Sunday night, was praised for the presenter’s icy reaction to being surrounded by a group of men and told to “go home to Britain” after she asked a question about whether immigrants from certain countries are more likely to commit sexual offenses than British citizens.
Immediately after the question, a man attacked Leo, confronting him and aggressively accusing him of being affiliated with the British Empire, which was “raping and plundering the world.” When Leo failed to fall into the man’s trap, he was told he was “talking nonsense” and asked to “do something about it,” Brit. He was later called a “scum” and a “liar”.
He asked Leo “how the British got their fucking power” and when the presenter responded by asking the man why he was so angry, the man shouted: “Because my adrenaline is pumping – I’m holding everything back so I don’t break your fucking jaw.”
When asked if he had come to the protest to commit violence, the man repeatedly shouted: “Yes! Yes!”

Another man intervened in an attempt to further intimidate the journalist who was covering a protest outside an ICE detention center in New Jersey, where a hunger strike was held and protesters were previously arrested after family visitation rights were suspended by authorities.
The second man asked: “Why don’t you go back to your country?” and “How did you get here?” The second man then said: “You need to go.”
Leo emphasized that he would not be afraid of “violent people” before asking police officers who attended the incident if they had witnessed the fight. He was told that he was clearly asking provocative questions and that he should move on.
The clip, shared on Facebook, was viewed 309,000 times and received more than 5,000 comments in four hours.
Facebook user Sean Cully said: “Fair play, Ben, hold your own there.”

James Branch said of the aggressive protester: “He needs an anger management course.”

Authorities say the protest has gained significant momentum and 300 to 400 detainees have joined the strike.

New Jersey authorities, including Rep. Mikie Sherrill, announced Sunday that three people were arrested following violent clashes outside the detention center Saturday night. Authorities claimed the arrests took place after a group of protesters attacked police officers and breached the security barrier.
As tension continues to rise within the facility, unrest emerges. On May 22, detainees launched a hunger and labor strike, demanding better living conditions, improved medical care, a meeting with Sherrill, and faster progress of immigration cases.
