Yorkville man charged with West Utica menacing

UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – A Yorkville man was arrested in West Utica on Wednesday and faces 10 charges stemming from an incident Tuesday afternoon.

Utica Police say they were called to the area of ​​State Street and Mandeville Avenue early Wednesday afternoon. The call was for a report of a man they knew approaching two people. The man pulled a gun on the duo and asked if they were ready to die. The man approached the couple and threatened them verbally. The man then turned around and walked away.

During the investigation in the area, they encountered a person who matched the description given to the police by the victims. The suspect was seen standing at the intersection of Erie Street and Jason Street. Seeing the police, the suspect got into the vehicle. When police began speaking to the man in the vehicle, he became uncooperative. He eventually gave conflicting information about his identity.

Police confirmed the suspect’s identity with photographs. The suspect was then detained and removed from the vehicle. During a search after his arrest, a large plastic bag suspected to contain narcotics was found. The bag was found inside his underwear. During an external search near the vehicle, a gun was found near the rear tire. The gun was loaded and matched the description of the gun given to police.

Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon

Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon

Criminal possession of a firearm

Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree with intent to sell cocaine and fentanyl.

Crime of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree

Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree.
