Tata Motors names Shailesh Chandra as new CEO amid JLR hacking; who is he?

Tata Motors is subjected to leadership change as a company on Friday, calling Insider Shailesh Chandra General Manager and CEO and Dhiman Gupta head financial affairs.

The leadership announcement of Shailesh Chandra and Dhiman Gupta comes at a time when Tata Motors faced interruptions in Jaguar Land Rover, who was previously shot from a large hack.

Tata Motors said Shailesh Chandra will take over as the MD and CEO of the company as of October 1st. It will continue for a period of three years until 2028.

Chandra is currently a joint general manager of Tata Motors’ passenger vehicles and passenger Electric Mobility. It will continue its role in the electric mobility segment.

The newly appointed Gupta replaces PB Balaji, who is ready to become the CEO of Jaguar Land Rover. Tata Motors announced the appointment of Balaji in August.

The changes are struggling to smaller suppliers until October 1, after a cyber attack that paralyzed operations, as the British government consider financial support for the suppliers of Jaguar Land Rover after the factory closing of the British largest car manufacturer.

Who is Shailesh Chandra?

Shailesh Chandra will manage Tata Motors as a new MD and CEO as of October 1st. Currently, Tata Motors’ passenger vehicles and passenger electrical mobility businesses are the general manager of the business.

Chandra has a long -standing career with Tata Motors, who joined the company as a manager in production in 1995. The company continued for 6 years before being promoted to the senior manager at the seller development wing.

In 2003, he was appointed as the Department Manager at Telco/ Tata Motors for three years. Later, Shailesh Chandra was elected as the Vice President of the Vice President of the Company Vice President in 2012.

In 2013, Chandra gave a short break from Tata Motors to join Tata Sons Limited. In 2015, he was appointed as the Vice President of the Company Group President.

In 2016, he re -joined Tata Motors as the President of the Corporate Strategy and Business Administration and played various roles in the company, including the President of the Passenger Vehicles Unit and the electric mobility business.

Shailesh Chandra was named CEO and General Manager of these units in 2022 and still continues in roles.
