Young dad Ibby Hameed, 26, dies from gunshot wound outside Altona North home

Police believe a 26-year-old father found with a gunshot wound outside a home in south-west Melbourne died as a result of a gun-related accident.

Emergency services were called to Second Avenue in North Altoona shortly after 3.30am to reports of gunshots.

Ibby Hameed, 26, from Werribee, was found with gunshot wounds outside his wife’s grandparents’ home.

He died at the scene.

Police believe the man’s tragic death was the result of “misfortune”.

Neighbors told the media that an elderly couple lived in the house in the otherwise quiet neighborhood.

Ahmad Al Houli, a friend of Mr Hameed, told the Herald Sun that Mr Hameed always put others first and would not hurt anyone.

“Everyone loved him, young and old,” he said.

“There are not enough words to describe how much you will be missed. Devastated would be an understatement.”
