Your Party plunged into fresh chaos as MP quits Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana’s project over ‘persistent infighting’

Your party has been hit by fresh chaos after an MP withdrew from the project led by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana, citing “implicit bias” against Muslim men. Adnan Hussain also reacted to the “constant infighting” in the group.
It came at a time when the party’s founding was marred by internal division, including disagreements over funding and leadership.
Mr Hussain, the independent MP for Blackburn, said on Friday he had withdrawn from the party’s “steering process” and was barely two weeks away from its founding conference in Liverpool.
He said he initially agreed to support the founding of the party because he believed in “building a political home with mass appeal” and “a force that could challenge rising far-right rhetoric.”
But in a statement posted on X/Twitter, he said he was disappointed by “persistent infighting, factional rivalries and struggles for power, position and influence rather than a shared commitment to the public good.”
Mr Hussain said he was also “deeply disturbed” by the treatment of “certain figures” within the new party, particularly Muslim men.
He said: “The rhetoric used at times is disturbingly similar to the political forces the left claims to oppose.
“I witnessed insinuations about abilities, condescending attitudes, and language that conveyed at least implicit bias.”
He was one of six MPs behind efforts to form a new political union, and his departure leaves former Labor leader Mr Corbyn, former Labor MP Ms Sultana and Independent MPs Shockat Adam, Ayoub Khan and Iqbal Mohamed still involved.
The party’s foundation was marred by internal divisions, including extreme leadership, membership initiations, and the party’s name.
On Thursday, the Alliance of Independent MPs, which includes Mr Corbyn, Mr Adam, Mr Khan, Mr Hussain and Mr Mohamed, said your Party was still trying to recover money donated by supporters when Ms Sultana promoted a new membership portal which was later dismissed as an “unauthorised email”.
They said a “small portion” of the funds had been transferred to the official Your Party, but added that this was “insufficient” and demanded “the immediate transfer of all money donated by supporters to implement a new party”.
Mr Hussain said in his statement that he “does not expect to be drawn into very serious and damaging internal disputes over matters relating to organizational behavior and governance”.
He also said he wished “good luck to those who continue to work on this effort and hope their hard work will yield the results they desire” and that he remains a staunch member of the “Independent Alliance” parliamentary group.
