Youth Held for Stabbing School Girl to Death for Refusing to Accept Love

The girl reportedly rejected the man’s love proposal. The victim lived with his family in Cherankotai near the island town.

Police alleged that the accused, identified as Muniyaraj, who lives in the same area, had been stalking the schoolgirl for days and was pressuring her to accept his love despite being repeatedly rejected.

According to police and local reports, the girl’s father Mariyappan, a fisherman, had recently confronted the teenager about alleged harassment and warned him not to disturb him.

Officers said the man, enraged by the woman’s constant rejection and her family’s warning, allegedly decided to attack her on her way to school Wednesday morning.

Police said the suspect allegedly confronted the girl on a public road and later stabbed her multiple times, causing serious injuries.

Initial investigation revealed that the teenager collapsed at the scene and died from his injuries before any medical help could arrive.

Authorities said that after passers-by who witnessed the attack informed the police, Port Police Station personnel came to the scene and took the body.

It was stated that the body was sent to the government hospital for autopsy and a case of murder was registered. Police officers said that after the attack, the suspect fled the scene but was pursued by a special police team.

Police stated that the person was detained for questioning and the investigation was continuing, adding that relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code were invoked.
