Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda, Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, is directed by Sriram Raghavan. After making acclaimed thrillers like Andhadhun, Badlapur and Johnny Gaddaar, the filmmaker is venturing into new territory by exploring a different genre with the biographical war drama film.

Day 5 of Ikkis box office collection

Released in theaters on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026, Ikkis is a thrilling war drama starring Agastya Nanda, Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat. The film traces the extraordinary life of Param Vir Chakra award-winning Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who sacrificed his life at the age of just 21 during the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. While Agastya takes on the role of the young war hero, Dharmendra gives a touching performance as his father, Brigadier ML Khetarpal, which is his last on-screen appearance.

Ahlawat portrays the role of Pakistan Army officer Brigadier Jaan Mohammad Nisar, inspired by real-life Brigadier General Khwaja Mohammed Naseer. The film also marks the acting debut of Akshay Kumar’s niece Simar Bhatia and has a strong supporting cast including Rahul Dev, Vivaan Shah, Sikandar Kher and Deepak Dobriyal.

Ikkis did decent business in India with a net of Rs 20.15 crore in its four-day opening weekend. However, according to the initial estimates of entertainment streaming portal Sacnilk, the film flopped at the box office on its first Monday and could earn only Rs 1.35 billion. The film continues to lag behind Dhurandhar, which suffered a massive decline in collections on its fifth Monday but still earned much more than Ikkis. The spy thriller starring Ranveer Singh collected Rs 4.50 Million in its 32nd day of release.

The biographical war drama, backed by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films, is directed by Sriram Raghavan. After a string of acclaimed thrillers like Ek Hasina Thi, Andhadhun, Badlapur, Johnny Gaddaar, Agent Vinod and Merry Christmas, the filmmaker is treading new territory by exploring a different genre with Ikkis.

Interestingly, Ikkis is the theatrical debut of Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Nikhil Nanda’s son Agastya Nanda, after their debut film The Archies, which premiered directly on Netflix in 2023 and also introduced Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, as well as Boney Kapoor and the late Sridevi’s daughter Khushi Kapoor.
