YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu arrested for criticising CM, ‘creating hurdles’ for police

YSRCP leader and former Minister Ambati Rambabu was arrested on Saturday night on charges of violating the law by obstructing the police in the discharge of their duties. He was transferred to Nallapadu police station.
The police lodged two FIRs against Mr. Rambabu, including one alleging that he was creating trouble for police personnel on duty and the second alleging that he criticized Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and used provocative language to create law and order problem by encouraging group clashes.
Guntur SP Vakul Jindal told Hindu That Mr. Ambati pushed a Police Special Branch officer while performing his duties. He added that the defendant was detained based on two allegations.
On the other hand, Mr. Rambabu’s wife, Vijayalakshmi, filed a house motion petition in the Supreme Court, alleging illegal detention and failure to provide protection by the police.
In his petition, he claimed that the police had unlawfully imprisoned him along with approximately 60 others, despite there being no legal basis for such action.
Ms. Vijayalakshmi alleged that the police failed in their duty to ensure her safety and maintain law and order, resulting in a serious threat to her personal safety.
Referring to the current law and order situation, he alleged that the authorities were unable to control the situation and instead resorted to wrongful detention.
