YSRCP to stage state-wide protest against spurious liquor menace today

YSR Congress Party said it has decided to launch a strong fight against the rampant circulation of fake liquor in Andhra Pradesh, which has turned into a life-threatening crisis for the poor.

Acting on the instructions of former Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the party has launched a state-wide agitation to “expose the failures and corruption” behind the liquor policies of the coalition government and the “involvement” of the ruling TDP leaders in this dodgy trade.

As a part of this campaign, on Monday, October 13, YSRCP will hold protests in front of all Excise Department offices in every constituency in the state.
Party leaders and workers will submit petitions to local Prohibition and Excise authorities demanding strict action. Many party staff, supporters and citizens are expected to attend the protests.

YSR Congress Party has demanded that the government immediately launch a thorough investigation into all wine shops, license rooms, bars and belt shops to unearth those behind the fake liquor network, irrespective of their political status.

The party also demanded a CBI investigation into the liquor racket, compensation and support to families of victims who died after drinking adulterated liquor, and immediate cancellation of licenses of shops involved in illegal sales. YSRCP also demanded that liquor shops be brought under direct government control, working hours of wine shops be reduced and licenses of bars near schools, temples and public places be canceled without delay.
