David Carrick, ex-Met officer, given additional life sentence

BBCConvicted rapist and former Met police officer David Carrick has been sentenced to an additional life sentence.
The 50-year-old man was found guilty Wednesday of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in the 1980s when he was 14 and raping his former partner 20 years later.
He was already serving 36 life sentences with a minimum of 32 years after pleading guilty to 71 counts of sexual violence committed over a 17-year period.
In a victim impact statement, the woman, who was abused as a child, told the court the trauma “followed me into adulthood”.
Carrick was found guilty of five counts of indecent assaults on him between April 1989 and August 1990.
He was also found guilty of two counts of rape against another woman, one between December 2014 and April 2016 and then again in 2019, as well as additional counts of sexual assault and coercive and controlling behavior towards the woman.
