Zelenskyy Calls Putin ‘A Man Of War’ After Russia’s Deadly Attack On Kyiv | World News

After Russia launched a new wave of attacks on Kiev and nearby regions, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Russian leader Vladimir Putin a “man of war”.
Speaking alongside Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Zelensky linked the sustained attack to Russia’s intentions, a day before he met with US President Donald Trump in Florida.
“We want peace,” Zelensky said. “And he is a man of war.”

Zelensky stopped in Canada on Sunday as he prepared to meet Trump in Florida, where he is expected to present a 20-point peace plan aimed at ending nearly four years of conflict. Trump has previously stated that any peace proposal would require his “approval.”
During his break, Zelensky also held meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, as well as NATO and European Union leaders.
“He called for strong positions both on the battlefield and on the diplomatic front to prevent Russian President Vladimir Putin from manipulating and avoiding a real and just end to the war.”

The remarks came just hours after Russia launched one of its largest airstrikes on Ukraine’s capital Kiev and surrounding areas, killing at least two people and wounding four others.
Zelensky claimed that Russia fired more than 500 drones and over 40 missiles during the attack. The attack lasted more than 10 hours, disrupting daily life in Kiev and causing widespread power outages that lasted several hours, according to CNN.
Zelensky said in his post on “In others, personnel will remain in shelters and rescue teams and repair teams will begin work as soon as air raid warnings end.”
The attack came a day after Zelensky confirmed he would meet Trump soon.
The Ukrainian president is scheduled to meet with the US leader at Mar-a-Lago in Florida on Sunday, December 28, 2025, where discussions will focus on the peace plan and potential US security guarantees.
