Hambleton explosion LIVE: Blast rocks house as locals told ‘avoid the area’ | UK | News

A police spokesman said: “Shortly before 9.55am today we received a report from the fire service of a fire at a property on Carr Lane, Hambleton.

“Our officers and other emergency services colleagues are at the scene and the fire service is working to extinguish the fire.

“A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He is currently hospitalized with minor injuries.

“Thank goodness no one else was injured.

“A small number of surrounding properties have been evacuated and Carr Lane remains closed while our colleagues carry out work to secure the area.

“Investigations are ongoing and a man has been arrested. This is being treated as an isolated incident.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting 0289 of 27 March.”
