Zenex Animal Health acquires majority stake in natural nutrition firm VievePharm

Animal health company Zenex Animal Health India said on Friday that it has acquired a majority stake in natural animal nutrition specialist Netherlands-based VievePharm for an undisclosed amount.

The deal provides Zenex with a manufacturing and sales base in Western Europe and expands its portfolio of natural and herbal animal health products as regulatory pressures on veterinary antibiotic use increase across the European Union.

Headquartered in Enter, the Netherlands, VievePharm specializes in phytogenic formulations for the livestock, equine and pet care markets.

This acquisition builds on Zenex’s acquisition of Ayurvet in 2023, which creates the Ayurveda animal health portfolio.

VievePharm’s expertise in bolus technology used to deliver minerals, vitamins and breast health support will be integrated into Zenex’s broader range of products worldwide.

The deal comes as the EU’s Farm to Fork Strategy targets a 50 per cent reduction in veterinary antibiotic sales by 2030 compared to 2018 levels; Zenex said this trend will benefit its combined natural portfolio.

“By combining VievePharm’s advanced bolus technology and European market reach with our R&D depth and global distribution, we are positioned to deliver holistic, science-backed solutions,” Zenex Managing Director and CEO Arun Atrey said in a statement.

Zenex currently has operations in parts of Asia, Africa and the CIS region. The purpose of the acquisition is to accelerate VievePharm’s entry into Western European markets by leveraging its established distribution network.
