Zohran Mamdani Declares He ‘Obviously’ Disagrees with Aide Who Calls Home Ownership ‘Weapon of White Supremacy’
Mayor of New York Zohran Mamdani (D) distanced himself from his own administration official’s past claims that “home ownership” is a “weapon of white supremacy.”
Mamdani joined PIX11 Henry Rosoff this week he faced the declaration of “hosting”. Cea WeaverMamdani is the Mayor’s choice to lead the Tenant Protection Office.
Weaver has come under scrutiny for past comments and social media posts on a now-deleted X account. In a 2017 post, he called hosting a “weapon of white supremacy.”
He also wrote in 2018, “There is no such thing as a ‘good’ gentrifier; there are just people who are and are not actively working on projects to dismantle white supremacy and capitalism.”
New York Post reported Earlier this week, Weaver stopped “crying” when confronted about a $1.6 million house belonging to her mother in Nashville this week.
One report When asked about the former New York City mayor, he regretted “some” of his past posts, he told Spectrum News. Eric Adams (D) accuses him of being “out of his mind.”
“I don’t think I’m losing my mind,” he said. “Some of these are definitely not things I would say today, and I regret it.”
Mamdani stands next to her officer.
“You said you would keep him in office because of the good work you felt he was doing, but what do you think about that comment drawing a line between landowners and white supremacists?” Rosoff asked Mamdani.
“Obviously, that’s not a view I share,” the mayor responded. “And to protect tenants, I decided to appoint him as administrative director of the mayor’s office, not because of his comments, but because of the work he does.”
Mamdani continued to praise Weaver, saying she already “works hard.”
“He is someone who has won important victories for tenants not just in New York City but throughout the state. [a] “He was a formative part of the upstate coalition and we’ve already seen him hard at work this past week,” he said.
