Andrew Cuomo accepted Zohran Mamdani with a striking political sadness in the democratic first of the New York Mayor.

Cuomo, the former governor of the state, was trying to withdraw a political return after he resigned in 2021 in the middle of the sexual harassment scandal.

In his speech to the supporters, Cuomo said Mamdani, a 33 -year -old democratic socialist, “won” the primary race and “we’ll take a look and make some decisions.”

“Tonight his night,” said Cuomo 67 -year -old. If elected, Mamdani would be the first Muslim and Indian American to lead the largest city of the country.

Stechly Liberal New York will determine who was the mayor in the elections in November.

The competition was monitored as a Turnusol test for the Democratic Party because it tried to improve the messaging after the election losses, which saw that President Donald Trump won the White House and both rooms in the Congress last November.

The results showed a command to Mamdani on Tuesday night, but it was below the 50% threshold needed to clearly win.

Cuomo’s privilege was unexpected because the counting seems to continue under the sequential election system next week, which allowed New York people to get up to five candidates in order of preference.

Trip Yang, a political strategist, told the BBC to the BBC, the loss of the former governor points to the “greatest sadness in the history of modern NYC.”

“A big win for Zohran Mamdani showing that Donald Trump wants to see the leaders of New York Democrats fought enthusiastically and courage and that Zohran showed voters.”

In an interview with the New York Times, Cuomo said he was still studying whether he was working in the general elections in Independent Line in November.

Im I said you won the primary choice, Cu Cuomo said to the exit. He continued: “I said I wanted to look at the numbers and rankings to decide what to do in the future, because I am in an independent line.”

Cuomo was seen as a moderate and founded favorite known throughout the country after the governorship during Covid pandemia.

Mamdani is a thousand -year -old foreigner until recently.

His family was born in Uganda and moved to New York at the age of seven. He released a completely Urdu campaign video and was mixed in Bollywood film clips. In another, he speaks Spanish.

Mamdani’s strong support for the Palestinians and Israeli criticism contradict him with most of the democratic organization.

He became viral during his campaign for videos he questioned NYC voters swinging for Trump in the November elections.

He asked which problems would lead to voting for the Republican President and what would be to shake the Democrat.

Mamdani’s platform includes free public buses, universal child care, freezing rent in subsidized units and markets operated by the city – all of them are paid with new taxes on the rich.

“This is a city where one of the four people live in poverty, a city where 500,000 children are hungry every night.” He said.

“And ultimately, it is a city that is in danger of losing what makes it so special.”

Congress member Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Democratic Socialists Senator Bernie Sanders approved Mamdani during his campaign.
