On Thursday, October 30, a flight from Cancún, Mexico to Newark, NJ had to make an emergency landing in Tampa, Florida after a sudden crash.
“JetBlue Flight 1230 from Cancún to Newark was diverted to Tampa International Airport and landed at approximately 2:20 p.m., where it was met by medical personnel,” the airport said in a statement to PEOPLE.
The airline confirmed that JetBlue Flight 1230 “experienced an altitude drop.” CNN.
“Approximately 15 to 20 passengers were evaluated and transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries,” Tampa Rescue added in an email to PEOPLE.

In a radio conversation during the incident, someone was heard saying “at least three people were injured”; One of the injuries appeared to include “a laceration to the head”. Associated Press quote LiveATC.net.
It was reported that the incident was investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration.
“JetBlue Airlines Flight 1230 was diverted to Tampa International Airport at approximately 2:00 pm local time on October 30 after the crew experienced flight control issues,” the FAA said.
