According to him, the fire occurred at around 20:36 local time on Sunday at Panti Werdha Damai nursing home located in Ranomuut Subdistrict, Paal Dua District of Manado. The fire was extinguished around 21:30 after three fire trucks sent by the Manado city government arrived at the scene.
Upon the notice of the fire, police teams took action quickly to secure the area and assist in rescue efforts. The survivors were evacuated to Manado City Regional Hospital and Permata Bunda Hospital, while the deceased were transported for further treatment.
Hasibuan said police forensic teams launched an investigation, including crime scene examination and eyewitness interviews, to determine the sequence of events and the initial cause of the fire.
According to local authorities, 15 people were killed and 19 people were injured in a bus accident that occurred at the intersection of the Krapyak toll exit in the city of Semarang, Central Java province, in the early hours of Monday, December 22.
According to the statement made by the Semarang Search and Rescue Bureau, the passenger bus was traveling at high speed and the driver lost control and the vehicle crashed into the road barrier and overturned.
“The evacuation process was quite difficult as some victims were trapped inside the bus and access was blocked due to broken windows,” said Budiono, head of the Semarang Search and Rescue Bureau. “Rescue personnel had to board the overturned bus, gain access to the victims and evacuate them with extra care.”
The office confirmed that all victims were successfully evacuated and sent to local hospitals.
