189 Rowdy-Sheeters Test Positive for Drugs

Hyderabad: 189 rowdy sheeters in Hyderabad police force tested positive for drugs. Following instructions from Hyderabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar, the Task Force and sleuths of Hyderabad Anti-Narcotics Wing (H‑NEW) conducted medical tests on the rough sheets.
During the drive, tests were conducted on bullies, troublemakers and people with a history of regular drug use in NDPS cases to raise awareness among drug consumers about the legal consequences they may face. These tests were conducted at Osmania General Hospital (OGH), Gandhi Hospital and Erragadda Government Mental Health Hospital.
A total of 239 people were tested at OGH and Erragadda Government Mental Health Hospital. Of these, 189 tested positive. Individuals were counseled by psychiatrists about the harmful effects of drug use and the importance of rehabilitation. Necessary legal cases are filed against those who are found positive, as required by law.
Hyderabad police and H‑NEW said they are committed to taking stringent action against drug-related activities and also helping those affected to recover through counseling and rehabilitation. Task Force deputy commissioner of police Vaibhav Raghunath Gaikwad appealed to everyone to stay away from drugs and promote a healthy and safe society.
Woman who committed suicide after HIV injection dies
Hyderabad: A 23-year-old woman in Annojiguda died by suicide, a month after her partner allegedly injected her with HIV-positive blood for canceling his marriage proposal. The woman, identified as Ramani, was reportedly depressed and living with her grandparents. When they went to another room, he hanged himself.
According to officials, Ramani’s wedding was arranged with Manohar, a resident of Rajiv Gruha Kalpa Colony in Annojiguda. The wedding was canceled after medical tests revealed that Manohar was HIV positive. Enraged, the man allegedly filled a syringe with his own blood and injected Ramani while she was alone on March 11. Ramani developed pain, infection and fever and later revealed to doctors in Uppal that he had forcibly injected her blood.
Manohar was arrested by Pocharam IT Corridor Police Station on March 15 and is currently in jail under remand. Relatives said Ramani fell into depression after the incident. His body was sent to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem and later handed over to his family.
Originally from Jangaon village, the accused had moved to the city years ago in search of livelihood. His parents were also HIV positive and his father had previously died, authorities said.
A case was registered against Manohar under Article 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and the police said they may add Article 306 (abetment to suicide).
MMC commissions electric fogging machines
Hyderabad:Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) has deployed 10 modern electric fogging units to strengthen mosquito control measures in its jurisdiction. Devi Reddy Sudheer Reddy, BRS MLA of LB Nagar, was present when the vehicles were flagged. Recently, a mosquito net-suit-wearing MLA lashed out at officials for failing to control the mosquito menace in his constituency.
Vehicles supported by advanced technology provide wider coverage, higher efficiency and longer working hours than traditional methods. With trained field staff and smart distribution, the initiative marks a shift towards a more systematic, technology-driven approach to pest control, ensuring safer and healthier communities, MMC officials said.
